Mission & Purpose
The Oregon Mental Health Counselor’s Association is the professional organization that promotes the practice of mental health counseling in Oregon. It has three purposes:
- Advocacy for the profession of mental health counseling in Oregon including political activity to address legislative needs and issues related to health insurance reimbursement for psychotherapy services in Oregon.
- Service to private practice therapists and other mental health professionals in Oregon including dissemination of information to help set up and maintain a private practice especially as it relates to the ongoing changes in health insurance practice and policy.
- Advocacy for consumers of mental health services in Oregon
OMHCA’s members are primarily professional counselors and marriage and family therapists, though membership is open to allied professionals, students, interns, and other interested persons.
